Black Premix (INDIA) For Agarbatti
In-House Preparation of Black Premix for Incense Sticks (Agarbatti)
This black premix is specially formulated to produce high-quality black incense sticks using a mechanized agarbatti-making machine. The mix provides excellent binding, smooth extrusion, and uniform burning characteristics. Below is the complete description of ingredients, their proportions, mixing process, and application.
Ingredients and Composition (Per 1 kg of Premix)
Ingredient |
Quantity (per 1 kg premix) |
Purpose |
Charcoal Powder |
600 grams |
Acts as the base material; gives black color and aids in burning |
Wood Dust (India origin) |
340 grams |
Adds structure and body to the stick |
Guar Gum |
60 grams |
Natural binder to hold the mix together |
Joss Powder |
100 grams (added after 1 kg premix) |
Enhances binding, softens texture, and improves burning |
Water |
600 ml (per kg of premix + joss powder) |
Required for mixing and dough formation |
Step-by-Step Preparation Process
- Weighing and Dry Mixing
- Measure 600 grams of fine charcoal powder.
- Add 340 grams of finely sieved wood dust (preferably sourced from India for its optimal texture and compatibility).
- Add 60 grams of guar gum powder.
- Thoroughly dry mix the three ingredients in a clean container until the mix is homogenous in texture and color.
- Batch Formation
- The resulting mixture will now weigh 1 kg (600g + 340g + 60g).
- Incorporation of Joss Powder
- To each 1 kg of premix, add 100 grams of joss powder.
- Mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution. Joss powder improves the binding strength and ensures smooth extrusion from the machine.
- Adding Water
- Slowly add 600 grams (or ml) of clean water to the mixture while stirring continuously.
- Mix until the texture becomes a dough-like paste, soft and pliable but not runny.
- Ensure the water is added gradually to avoid over-saturation. The final consistency should allow easy loading and uniform extrusion in the agarbatti machine.
- Resting Time (Optional but Recommended)
- Let the premix rest for 15–30 minutes. This helps the guar gum and joss powder fully activate and bind the components, improving workability.
Application in Agarbatti Machine
- Once the premix is ready, it should be loaded into the hopper of the agarbatti machine.
- Ensure the hopper is clean and free from previous residue to avoid blockages.
- The premix will extrude smoothly, forming uniform black incense sticks that are easy to dry and burn evenly.
Storage Tips (If Premix is Made in Advance)
- Store the dry premix (before adding water) in an airtight container away from moisture and sunlight.
- Once water is added, it should be used within 24 hours to avoid spoilage or hardening.
Summary
This in-house black premix formulation is ideal for consistent production of black incense sticks. The combination of charcoal for burn quality, wood dust for structure, guar gum and joss powder for superior binding, and adequate water content ensures smooth processing and high-quality finished products.
